Researching the DAVIS family. Would like to correspond with anyone researching or recognizing these names...Our Zachariah "Zachery" DAVIS was born in 1789 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, to James and Keziah (PHILLIPS) DAVIS. Zachery DAVIS was a grandson of Owen DAVIS (5 December, 1725-7 July, 1810) of Northern Wales. The progenitor of this DAVIS clan, Owen DAVIS, arrived in America about 1751. He was the first minister to occupy the pulpit of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Smithfield, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. The subject of this sketch, Zachery DAVIS, married Hannah DAVIS (her maiden name was also DAVIS) in the fall of 1813 and the following spring left for Butler County, Ohio, accompanied by Hannah's father's family. They stayed there, probably near Oxford, for about two to three years, then left across the state line into Franklin County, Indiana, near a town called BATH. There they remained, raising a large family. Zachery Davis died on 6 July, 1859, and was buried on Liberty Pike in the Big Cedar Church Cemetery. Wife, Hannah, lived on the farm at Colter's Corner for over 60 years. she was born in 1795 and died in 1887. She, too, is buried in Big Cedar. Their son, Robert Nelson DAVIS, born in 1836, married Eleanor Mary SHULTZ, a daughter of John and Catherine (COX) SHULTZ.
